 The idea for #beforeitserased didn’t come all at once. It came gradually, through conversations I couldn’t forget, policies that disappeared without warning, and stories from people I care about who suddenly had to fight to remain visible in spaces that once welcomed them.

As a white man who has benefited from the very systems now being scaled back, I came to understand that silence, however well-intentioned, is complicity. I didn’t want to center myself in this work, but I also couldn’t pretend not to see what was happening around me. To say nothing would be to uphold the very erasure I claimed to oppose.

This project was born from a simple but urgent belief: stories matter. And when those stories are threatened, when identities, histories, and lived experiences are being stripped from the record, remembering becomes an act of resistance.

#beforeitserased is a space to hold memory, protect truth, and amplify the voices that have always mattered, but have too often been ignored. It exists to ensure that what is personal, painful, and powerful is not lost to silence—but seen, heard, and carried forward.

In a time when diversity, equity, and inclusion efforts are being silenced, stripped away, or rewritten altogether, we stand as a living archive of what’s real, what’s personal, and what must never be forgotten.

We believe that visibility is power—and when systems attempt to erase representation, remembering becomes an act of resistance. Through storytelling, advocacy, and collective reflection, our mission is to ensure that those who have been historically silenced are not just acknowledged, but centered.
